Science Comes to Town Wissenschaft

Die Kieler Forschungswerkstatt öffnet an jedem vorletzten Donnerstag im Monat ihre Türen für die Öffentlichkeit.

As part of Science Comes To Town (SCTT), the Kiel Research Workshop has developed a special program: on every second-to-last Thursday of the month, the teaching and learning laboratory opens its doors to the public. Together with the ozean, visitors of all ages are invited to explore life in the Baltic Sea with all their senses on Thursday, August 20, 2026. Through experiments, hands-on work with models, and interactive stations, the Baltic Sea comes to life. Under the microscope, for example, participants can discover the vibrant activity contained in just a single drop of seawater. Those who wish can even step into the role of a whale and embark on a virtual dive. Exciting questions also await participants: Why do flatfish have both eyes on one side of their head? And what makes starfish such remarkably skilled predators?

Participation is free of charge. However, registration is required, as the number of participants is limited. If too few people register for a session, we reserve the right to cancel or postpone the event at short notice. Registration is available via the Kiel Research Workshop website:
