This talk will discuss antifeminism and threatened women's rights.

The last few decades seemed progressive in many ways regarding women's rights and feminism. The women's movement and feminism have fought for many rights in politics, society, and the workplace.

Although there has always been misogyny and anti-feminism, with its widespread dissemination on the internet and social media, and increasingly in public debate, we are now in the midst of a rollback against the achievements in women's rights and other feminist successes. The so-called "manosphere" on the internet specifically targets young men and even children to spread hatred and misogynistic behavior. The number of femicides in Germany remains alarmingly high. Radical right-wing groups have intensified their fight against feminism, women's rights, and queer people, and anti-feminism is managing to infiltrate broad sections of our societies, exploiting insecurities and fears.

Thus, on the one hand, what has been achieved is being questioned, and on the other hand, existing structural inequalities are simply denied. However, there are also many democrats who oppose this. How can we position ourselves against misogyny and anti-feminism? What anti-feminist arguments exist, and who presents them with what intention? How can we in Kiel and Schleswig-Holstein, but also nationwide, unite against the well-networked anti-feminism and effectively counter violence against women and misogyny?

We want to discuss these and other questions this evening with Carolin Hesidenz (expert and speaker on anti-feminism), Sophia Schiebe (MdL, spokesperson for equality and diversity of the SPD parliamentary group), Kerstin Hansen (managing director, coordination office KIK (cooperation and intervention concept) network for domestic violence Schleswig-Holstein), and the audience.
