Creating a place of solidarity for a sustainable society

A lively, creative and sustainable city can only emerge and exist with a vital civil society. The Alte Mu has recently managed to establish a place for special encounters, and the motivation goes far beyond that. What started as an unplanned merger is now to become a lighthouse project in the middle of the state capital Kiel.

The idea that people will live, work and educate together in the future lies in the focus of the further development of the place. A dynamic that knows no cultural and social boundaries. The aim is to use individual potentials in community, to send impulses into society and to manage the economy as a whole in a sustainable way.

It is essential for ALte Mu to involve economic and political actors, interest groups and the public and to promote a sustainable urban development policy. This integrated urban development policy also involves external administrative actors and actively involves citizens* in shaping their immediate living environment. ALTE MU! stands for this bottom-up strategy.
