The overriding aim of the Muthesius Kunsthochschule in Kiel is to act as a focal point for work and intellectual debate in the fields of art, spatial conception and design through artistic and creative development and research projects. The Muthesius Kunsthochschule in Kiel is the only art academy in the state of Schleswig-Holstein and is not only a place where biographies that become culturally relevant can be made possible, but also a place for special experiments and realisations with its project studies. The profiles of the Master's programmes partly represent unique study offers and development opportunities for students in the Federal Republic of Germany.

"The Muthesius Kunsthochschule focuses on art, the artistic and the creative, the creative and productivity. The fundamental relationship between theory and practice also moves around this centre. This interrelationship is a permanent process, a circular movement around the center sustained by art and design. Free space is necessary to move. Therefore, the first condition for art and design at our university is freedom! Studying at the Muthesius Kunsthochschule requires the will to use this freedom to mature into a creative and productive personality. In this way we can make personal biographies possible for our students," promises President Dr. Arne Zerbst.
