Kiels Geschichte als Hafenstadt, als Marine- und Werftenstandort und als Ort des Segelsports.
Kiel's history in all its facets as a port city, as a naval and shipyard location and as a place for sailing - this is what the new permanent exhibition of the Kiel City and Shipping Museum in the listed fish hall wants to show its visitors.
Ship models, naval painting, nautical equipment - to name just a few selected groups of exhibits - show how closely Kiel's history is linked to the sea, shipbuilding, the navy and seafaring. Topics such as fishing and colonial history, cruise tourism, the Kiel Canal or marine painting are also staged in modern presentations with numerous media stations.
Shop and gastronomy offer museum guests a pleasant quality of stay. Panoramic windows allow a view over the fjord to ferries and shipyards and connect the museum with the maritime present and future of our city.
