Casting workshop in the metal foundry for adults and young people from 8 years 

If you want to cast metal yourself, the Howaldtsche Metallgießerei Industrial Museum is the place to go. On Sunday, 16 July, interested people from the age of eight can make a thaler under expert guidance. Starting at 11.15 a.m., they will work for about 90 minutes in a traditional process with moulding sand and tin. There will also be interesting facts about the special features of casting, the former working conditions in the metal foundry and the castings.
 
The number of workshop participants is limited. Therefore, registration by telephone is requested under the Kiel number 901-3425. Participation is free of charge. However, anyone wishing to take the cast thaler home with them will have to pay a material fee of ten euros.
 
In the building at Grenzstraße 1, which originally belonged to the Howaldtswerke, components made of bronze, brass and lead for ships were manufactured for around 100 years from 1884. Anyone interested in the industrial museum beyond the workshop can visit free of charge on Tuesdays and Sundays between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. until 15 October.
