After more than 150 years of history, the historic industrial site “StrandOrt Kiel” in Friedrichsort is now being gradually revitalized and can be experienced for the first time again as part of guided tours.
Locomotive and engine construction in northern Kiel has a history spanning over 150 years. Currently, and in the coming years, the "StrandOrt Kiel" industrial area in Friedrichsort is being revitalized for the future by the City of Kiel and the Kiel Economic Development Agency (KiWi).
Due to many years of industrial slumber and access restrictions, the area is not accessible to the public. Due to popular demand last fall, interested parties now have the opportunity to take two-hour guided tours of the StrandOrt Kiel site and experience this historic site. The tours are conducted in small groups and are free of charge.
