With her solo exhibition "Water Recall," artist Marcelina Wellmer offers
a fascinating look at the complex relationship between urban space and
aquatic life. The project is closely connected to the Kiel Fjord and unfolds
in two phases. It begins in Kiel city center with an inviting
OHO! – Window Display at Gallery Cubeplus
(Holstenstraße 13–15, 24103 Kiel),
that offers viewers direct access to key themes.
Following the exhibition, visitors are cordially invited
to enter the main exhibition space of Gallery Cubeplus
(Knooper Weg 104, 24105 Kiel)
and delve even deeper into the multifaceted aspects of the exhibition.
"Water Recall" encourages us to explore our role in the
ecosystem. The connection of the two exhibition venues in different
districts creates a dynamic exhibition experience. The artist Marcelina
Wellmer and Gallery Cubeplus invite visitors to discover the fascinating
water world and reflect on the ecological crises caused by
human actions. "Water Recall" ultimately calls for
redefining the boundaries between humans and nature and questioning one's own role in the
ecosystem. Thus, the connection between art and the environment becomes
a compelling appeal for the protection of our waters and their
inhabitants. The diversity of the works—video, sound, and object installations—
impressively demonstrates how art can serve as a means of making the often invisible
stories of nature visible. Text by Mr. Bernard Vienat about the
exhibition "Water Recall"
