Can functional foods meet the expectations placed on them? Is the contamination of fish, meat or cereals with harmful substances increasing or decreasing? And how can the quality of meat, fish, milk, fats and oils, cereals, potatoes, fruit and vegetables be further improved and sustainably secured?

Around 200 scientists at the four Max Rubner Institute sites are researching these and many other questions relating to nutrition and food. The research focus is on consumer health protection in the field of nutrition.

By public transport
By train to Kiel main station.

By bus
Exit opposite the main station:
"Melsdorf" Line 91 (Steig C3): Exit Adelheidstraße (2nd stop).

Exit directly in front of the main station:
"CITTI Park" Line 300 (Steig B2): Exit Exerzierplatz (4th stop)
"Roskilder Weg" line 100/1 (A1 climb): Exerzierplatz exit (4th stop)
"Narvikstraße" Line 31 (Steig B2): Exit Exerzierplatz (2nd stop)

Continue in the direction of the bus (you will see the high-rise building of the Max Rubner Institute in front of you). Access to the research institute from "Kronshagener Weg".

Footpath
You leave the main station following the sign "Berliner Hof", turn left to the traffic light, cross the street and walk up the "Ringstraße" to the "Schützenwall". There you will see the MRI Kiel on your right (approx. 10 minutes). Access on the right next to the high-rise.

By car
Hamburg-Flensburg (A7), at the Bordesholmer Dreieck towards Kiel (A215)
Directions to the end of the Kiel-Max Rubner-Institut motorway:
At the end of the BAB there is a 1st traffic light. Drive straight ahead into the city. Turn left at the 5th traffic light - "Hotel Wiking" is on your right. At the 2nd traffic light, turn right into Kronshagener Weg and then right into the entrance to the Max Rubner Institute.
