Animal park Tannenberg
The animal park Tannenberg is with approx. 40 hectares the largest animal area managed by the green space office; a forest area between Projensdorfer street, industrial railroad and high bridge approach road. You can reach the enclosure via Projensdorfer Straße. The main entrance is on the corner of Projensdorfer Straße and Tannenberg.
The extensive forest and meadow areas are home to fallow deer, mouflon, sika deer, wild boar and damara goats. The enclosure includes smaller streams and some ponds. Some of the beech trees in the area, which has been formed into a so-called "hall forest", are more than 120 years old. Of the small still waters in the enclosure, especially the sunlit waters on the pastures are very rich in species and of importance for biotope protection.
The Schilksee hiking trail runs through the animal enclosure. Further hiking trails lead from the enclosure into the Projensdorfer Gehölz as well as into the adjacent housing estates. In contrast to the other enclosures, the Tannenberg enclosure has a special feature: Fallow deer and mouflon are free-ranging here, i.e. not separated from visitors by fences.
