Metro Kino at Schloßhof

In September 2006, the traditional Kiel cinema "Metro" in Holtenauer Strasse, which had existed with various interruptions since 1939 and was closed for ten years, was reopened as "metro cinema in the castle courtyard" after complete renovation while retaining the old cinema charm and equipment with the latest technology (digital projection / Dolby Digital Sound 7.1). 
The cinema has three halls (cinema 1 with stage: 426 seats, cinema 2: 118 seats, cinema 3: 87 seats) and with the "Centro im metro" a cinema café with 60 seats and a sunny outdoor area. In addition to exquisite wines, homemade cakes and café specialities, the Centro offers a rich cinema breakfast on Saturdays and Sundays.

The cinema offers free seat reservations via the Internet (www.metrokino-kiel.de) and by telephone (Tel.: 0431 - 2207890). All halls are barrier-free.

The weekly changing programme of the metro cinema in the Schloßhof not only focuses on family-friendly mainstream and children's films, but also on arthouse films for an adult audience.

In addition to the film programme, the concept also includes turning the cinema into a cultural event centre in the north of Kiel. Therefore, readings, comedy and cabaret programmes and unplugged concerts take place at regular intervals on the stage of the main hall.
